My ideas tend to involve Christmas crackers worn as giant dresses, oversized Christmas tree hats, glamorous festive characters... and the occasional glass of wine paired with a healthy dose of festive cynicism.
As a fashion illustrator, I'm drawn to the playful side of Christmas. The decorations, traditions and seasonal clichés provide endless inspiration for creating characters that feel vibrant, contemporary and full of personality.

Many of my festive drawings begin with a simple question 'What if this Christmas object became a fashion illustration?'
A cracker becomes couture. Tinsel becomes an accessory. Baubles and bows are transformed into wearable pieces that sit somewhere between fashion illustration and tacky festive fantasy. Rather than creating traditional Christmas scenes, I enjoy reimagining familiar seasonal objects in unexpected ways. The result is Christmas fashion illustrations that feels bold, colourful and slightly absurd.
Why Humour Matters in Christmas Illustration
Christmas can be joyful, exciting and magical... but lets not kid ourselves, it's exhausting.
By December, many of us are juggling deadlines, social events and endless conversations about festive plans. Alongside all of that, we can also be dealing with life - bereavements, break-ups, and all those other hard things that don't just stop because it's Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love the sparkliness of the season, but when I'm drawing I think about my friends and want to make humorous Christmas illustrations that would make them laugh. The season can be really hard, so "blah blah, merry and bright".

Character is a big par of my illustration practice.
Many of my Christmas illustrations begin with observation. A festive outfit spotted on the street. A seasonal tradition. A familiar December mood. A throwaway comment that makes me laugh.
These observations are then exaggerated and transformed into illustrated characters that celebrate both the glamour and absurdity of Christmas. The result is a growing collection of festive personalities that feel expressive, playful and unmistakably human.

Christmas is one of the few times of year when illustration can become completely unapologetic.
